Shopping for Antiques in China

From the Himalayan slopes of Tibet to the deserts of Mongolia, the Jewelry Caravan winds its way along the silk road. Every year we go to China and trek to the remote tribal villages of Guizhou and Yunnan. We explore the historical heartland of Shanxi, Hubei, and Hunan. China is a big place and our quest never ends. So much to see… so little time!

Shopping for antiques, beads, jewelry and textiles in flea markets in China is quite an adventure. We are fortunate to have a “backdoor” to antiques by shopping with my best friend in China, “Bill”. He is from Shaxi in North Central China which was a very historical area prior to the relocation of the capital from Xian to Beijing.

Bill and his wife Mary are antique dealers in Zhuhai near Macau. You can visit their website at www.antiques5000.com. We enjoy traveling together searching for antiques in places that only other Chinese dealers know about. I’ve been to some places that you’d never want to go without a good friend! This is where I find old nephrite, textiles, porcelain, and ancient beads, boxes, and furniture.
