| The Jewelry Caravan is an expression of a lifetime fascination with primitive art and jewelry from remote places of the world. The creation of jewelry using gold, silver, gemstones and beads has represented personal adornment, ethnic identity, and family wealth in many tribal societies. Our love of travels to faraway lands, especially visiting these remote tribal groups of people, and our personal collecting of ethnic beads and tribal jewelry has inspired us to create Jewelry Caravan. |

We have trekked all over the world collecting ethnic jewelry and tribal art. Kilos of trade beads from Marrakesh! Bags of Berber jewelry from the Atlas Mountains! Ancient jade beads from ruins in Mexico! Hilltribe jewelry from Thailand! Exotic stones from Indonesia! Now we are concentrating on finding exciting and unusual treasures from the most remote areas in China and Tibet.
Every year we go in
search of flea markets
in small villages. We
scour small town markets
for high quality “A”
grade jade. We go to the
source for our
Freshwater Pearls. We
look for the old, the
vintage, the antique
pieces of metal and
stones that decorated
ancient clothing. |
|
We find unusual amber
beads and carved jade
pendants, Tibetan
turquoise and coral
pieces. We purchase Peking glass buttons and handmade metal pieces from dynasties long past. From these varied sources come the bits and pieces that go into our own creations of necklaces, earrings and bracelets. |
